Casillas – an expensive pipedream?

Joe Hart’s latest clanger is bound to have City linked with goalkeepers from across the globe, it’s an easy one to write.

City have previously taken a very hard look at Stoke’s Asmir Begovic, but Roberto Mancini was the main driver of that.

Inevitably, all the roads will look towards Spain. It’s no secret Iker Casillas is not happy at Real Madrid.

At 32, he’s still a baby in goalkeeping terms, but a signing of his stature would signal the end for Hart.

Especially so, when Madrid have told his agents they will demand a £25m fee for him in January.

Casillas is a wonderful keeper, maybe not the great he once was, but still, his present wages are £170,000 a week at the Bernabeu.

His agents have circulated a list of his requirements to a number of top clubs, including City, Paris Saint Germain and Arsenal.
