Stevan Jovetic is going nowhere according to his agent Fali Ramadani. Jovetic has been linked with Inter Milan in recent days, the Serie A side having recently also been keen on Edin Dzeko and Aleksander Kolarov.
But Ramadani has set the record straight by saying Jovetic is happy at City. Reports had speculated that Jovetic was unhappy with his “lack of opportunities” at City, which itself is clearly nonsense, since injuries and nothing else are the cause of his precious few appearances.
Ramidani told Calciomercato in Italy:
“The only problems he has had are the physical ones.
“Now he has fully recovered from his injury and will return next week to train with the team.
“Even with coach Pellegrini, everything is okay, there is no problem.
“If there should be problems when he is in shape, we’ll see what to do. But right now there is absolutely nothing.”
On a possible return to Italy:
“No, there is absolutely nothing.
“Nobody called me also because everyone knows that it is unimaginable that a player who arrived a few months ago can already move.”
Vincent Kompany admits he can’t guarantee his fitness, but that he feels great after returning to action last night against West Brom.
Kompany, eloquent as always, told the press:
“My head can promise I will not break down again but my body can’t.
“I want to be back for as long as I can. I can blame myself for a bad performance but I can’t blame myself for being injured. I will do everything I can to stay fit.
“I live my life like the best of professionals and hopefully by doing the right thing it will resolve. It’s all a matter of getting back to the rhythm. If you play three, four, five, six games in a row you will get out of it.
“They forced me to wait a bit longer [before returning]. But it is a tricky thing to talk about because you do everything right.
“I feel great right now and in every game I’ve played but there is only so much you can promise.
“You can promise you will do everything right on the pitch but you can’t promise your body will always be there. But I have a good feeling.”
City are in pole position to land another starlet, as the aggressive recruitment of top youth players from around the world continues.
According to CDM in Montenegro, City are in pole position to sign 16-year-old attacker Zoran Petkovic who plays for FK Mladost Podgorica in his homeland.
Petkovic, a Montenegro youth international, is also wanted by AC Milan and Bayern Munich, but it is thought he would prefer to follow in the footsteps of Jovetic and move to England.
City are reportedly set to take the youngster on trial with a view to signing him.
Montenegro remain in negotiations to join the EU, so should City be impressed enough to sign him, they could face the all-too-familiar issue of getting a work permit for Petkovic.
City are among the clubs keeping tabs on Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow according to Sky Sports.
23-year-old Darlow has established himself as number one at the City Ground after being released by Aston Villa during his youth games.
Spurs, West Ham, West Brom and Liverpool are thought to be the other Premier League clubs taking an interest in Darlow, who has made his ambition clear of playing at the top level.
Another goalkeeper linked with City is Real Sociedad and Chile stopper Claudio Bravo.
According to Mundo Deportivo in Spain, City have joined Barcelona in trailing the impressive 30-year-old who has made over 200 appearances since joining La Real in 2006.
City director of football Txiki Begiristain is a known admirer of Bravo and wanted to sign him while in the same role at Barcelona.
Bravo shares the same nationality as Pellegrini and has worked with City’s goalkeeping coach Xabier Mancisidor before.
Bravo was quoted as saying last year: “I have not had the fortune to be coached by Pellegrini, but everyone I have known has spoken of him as an incredible coach.”
