Dzeko given another chance to shine

Edin was actually poised to start against Liverpool, alongside The Beast, we’ve been led to believe.

But those early plans were redrawn following the muscle injury which Martin Demichelis suffered in training on Christmas Day.

We’re not sure how it panned-out in Pellegrini’s eventual thinking, but Dzeko has been told he is in line to start against Palace.

Negredo suffered a dead leg just prior to his substitution on Boxing Day and although it’s supposedly of little concern, was receiving intensive treatment following the final whistle.

With Jovetic currently playing the sick man of Europe, and Sergio stepping up the rehab on his calf injury, Dzeko can once again come to the fore with the “heavy goals” David Platt used to remark was his forte.
